1) How long does the chocolate last?

Chocolate has a shelf life of about one year. Our chocolate usually is not older than a couple of weeks when it ships to you. The chocolate filled with cherries have a shelf life of about 3 months.

2) How do I store chocolate?

Chocolate should be stored in a cool, dry place (55-70 degrees F) and will last for about a year. Heat and humidity will cause the chocolate to melt. Do not refrigerate the chocolate. This will not harm the chocolate but a few things may happen to the chocolate that makes it less appealing.

3) What happens when chocolate gets cold or is stored in a refrigerator?

When chocolate is stored in a refrigerator, "blooming" may happen. This is when the cocoa butter crystals or sugar rises to the surface due to the humidity in a refrigerator. This causes a white or dull surface on the chocolate. Blooming does not change the taste of the chocolate and is not dangerous, it just makes the chocolate look strange. Also, chocolate absorbs orders very easily.

Yes it was.

5) Why can't I return the chocolate?

We can't take returns for the safety of our customers. We can't sell any chocolate that has been returned to us because of the possibility of tampering. Our chocolate comes from the molds directly to you.

6) What is the VIP section?

The VIP section is an area where customers that previously ordered more than $500.00 worth of chocolate (either on 1 order or multiple orders) can login and get special pricing, sales, and promotions. It is our way of saying thank you.

7) How can I check to see if I qualify for the VIP section?

Email us at cdunkel@gcchocolate.com and we will look up your account to see if you qualify. Please include the name you used when you ordered from us in your email. It may take up to 24 hours for us to check and reply.

8) Why do you ship within the United States only?

We would love to ship to other countries. However, there are several reasons why we only ship within the US. 1) Customs have very strict regulations for exporting perishable items. 2) The cost of exporting the chocolate is too high. The cost of shipping would be more than the chocolate (after paying duties). 3) It takes too long in transit when shipping to other countries.

9) How are the chocolates packed?

The mini chocolate brains are packed in a gold gift box and are sealed in cello. Other chocolates are sealed in cello, wrapped in bubble wrap, and packed in a white gift box. During hot months/locations, we will pack the chocolate with a cold pack. You can also request us to use a cold pack when you place your order (there is no charge for the cold pack).

10) How long will it take for me to receive my chocolate?

Most orders will ship the following business day via UPS Ground. We ship from Chicago, Illinois. Shipping takes about: East - 2 to 3 business days, South - 3 to 4 business days, West 4 to 5 business days, and Midwest 1 to 2 business days.

11) Where can I track my shipment?

You should receive an email when your order ships that has a UPS tracking number. You can go to the UPS site at www.UPS.com to track your shipment.

12) Can we pick up the chocolate at your location?

No. We ship from different chocolate locations around the area.

13) How are you related to the Anatomical Chart Company?

I am a current employee of the Anatomical Chart Company (now a Wolters Kluwer Division). We were given the chocolate business from them when the warehouse located to Maryland. Anatomical Chart no longer sells any chocolate products.

14) Can chocolate change my mood?

Yes. There is a chemical in chocolate called Tryptophan that can produce a feeling of love. This is why chocolate is so popular during Valentine's Day.

15) Is chocolate good for the heart?

Studies have stated that dark chocolate may have positive health benifits to the heart. However, there needs to be more studies to be sure. Also, chocolate does have a large amount of fat and is high in calories.

16) How does your company protect from credit card fraud?

We take fraud very seriously. Our website has been redesigned so no credit card information is stored. Once the order is process (usually within a couple of hours), any credit card information is deleted. We also have 2 different sites that provide us the credit card information. One site has half of the information and the other site has the rest. Also, all credit cards are processed manually. We review each transaction.

17) I am a returning customer and your website used to remeber my personal information to make checkout quicker. Why does it not remenber me anymore?

For security reasons. We have not had any record of fraud on our site, but we are trying to be proactive in the fight against fraud which is why we redsigned our website. We do not store any personal information on our website, so when you order from us again, you will need to re-enter your information. It is a little more work for the customer, but your safety is our #1 concern.

18) Because you work with chocolate all day, do you ever become sick of it?

Nope, we always loved chocolate and always will.
